Meet Our Clinicians


 
Dr. Christopher Watson is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with several years of training and experience in neuropsychological assessment, personality assessment, and psychotherapy. He earned his Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from Wheaton College Graduate School.  Dr. Watson specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of childhood and adolescent challenges such a Asperger's Syndrome, anxiety disorders, OCD, explosive behaviors, and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder. Dr. Watson also worked from 2008-2011 for Alexian Brothers Developmental and Behavioral Pediatric Center on a multi-disciplinary diagnostic team.  On the other end of the age continuum, he provides assessment and treatment for the aging population when there are concerns regarding memory loss and the ability to maintain independence. Dr. Watson is a Cogmed qualified coach and enjoys using this tool to help clients achieve behavioral change through improved working memory.  In addition to clinical practice, Dr. Watson has taught both assessment and supervision courses as an adjunct professor in the Doctor of Clinical Psychology program at Argosy University Schaumburg Campus and Wheaton College Graduate School.

Dr. Doina Porumbescu earned a Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology.  She also has obtained certification as a School Psychologist from National-Louis University.  She is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor and a Certified School Psychologist.  Her education and experience contributes to a unique sensitivity to children's emotional, behavioral, and educational needs.  She worked for eight years in the capacity of a school psychologist for an elementary school prior to entering full time private practice.  She is also an adjunct professor at National-Louis University, teaching educational and counseling psychology.  At our practice, she provides adult and child therapy specializing in mood and anxiety disorders, including anger management through cognitive behavioral interventions.  She also conducts psychological assessments which include learning disabilities, gifted evaluations, and Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder evaluations.  She is an advocate to children and adolescents with special needs and consults as an expert witness.

Jean Garrity Arnold, MS, LMFT, holds a Masters of Science degree in Applied Psychological Studies from Northwestern University, with a specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy. She did her clinical training at The Family Institute and post-graduate training at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Health Hospital. Jean is currently on the staff of Northwest Community Hospital’s Adolescent Inpatient and Outpatient unit.  Jean treats individual adults and adolescents who are working through issues such as depression, anxiety, self-regulation, life transitions or past trauma. She specializes in the treatment of couples and families who are looking to improve communication, strengthen emotional attachments, or work through special challenges such as infidelity, illness or separation. Jean also provides counseling for parents who are dealing with the everyday stress of raising teenagers, as well as for parents who are trying to navigate the difficult path of raising an adolescent who is struggling.

Dr. Mark Rauser is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist who specializes in psychological evaluations. He earned his Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology.  He has spent the last several years providing inpatient assessments and evaluations within the school context. Dr. Rauser also provides counseling for adolescents and young adults. At our practice, he provides assessment for the aging population when there are concerns regarding memory loss and the ability to maintain independence.

Stacey Watson holds a master’s degree in counseling psychology and is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor. She has spent the past several years specializing in the treatment of adolescents and young adults. In addition to providing services at our office, Stacey  works with college-age students as a counselor for Access and Disabilities Services at Harper College. Stacey is a former special education teacher, and uses this experience as an advocate for families of children with special needs who are unsure of their rights within the school system. 




Dr. Whitney Tschan is a Licensed Clinical Psychologist with training and experience in neuropsychological assessment and psychotherapy with children, adolescents and adults.  She earned her Doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology-Argosy University. She also holds a B.A. in Elementary Education from DePauw University and an M.A. in Learning Disabilities from Northwestern University. Dr. Tschan has trained and worked with individuals of all ages in a variety  variety of settings including primary and secondary schools, college counseling centers, hospitals, and private practices. At our practice, she provides neuropsychological assessments for children, adolescents, and adults for such issues as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, learning disabilities and social disorders. In regards to psychotherapy, Dr. Tschan treats children, adolescents, adults, families and couples dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, OCD, behavioral difficulties, ADHD, eating disorders/body image concerns and emotional regulation difficulties.

Ben Gesing holds a Doctoral degree in clinical psychology in Clinical Psychology from the American School of Professional Psychology-Argosy University-Schaumburg Campus (formerly the Illinois School of Professional Psychology).  Ben has several years of extensive training and experience in neuropsychological assessment, personality assessment, and psychotherapy. His training has focused primarily on the diagnosis and treatment of childhood/adolescent and geriatric disorders. Ben provides services at our office as a supervised psychometrician and social skills group leader.  He is a Cogmed qualified coach and enjoys using this tool to help clients achieve behavioral change through improved working memory. In addition to providing services at our office, Ben also works at Alexian Brothers Behavioral Heath Hospital as a clinical liaison working with school-aged patients to help facilitate a successful transition from the hospital back into their home schools and as the director of the adult IOP program at the Elk Grove Campus.

Dr. NicoleJoAnne Wood earned a Doctoral degree and an M.A. in Clinical Psychology with an emphasis in Neuropsychology from the American School of Professional Psychology (Argosy University/Schamburg).  She also holds a B.A in Psychology and Mathematics from Valparaiso University.  Dr. Wood is a Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor.  Dr. Wood's training has focused on children, adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including: specialty rehabilitation hospitals, community mental health centers, and private practice.  At our pratice, she provides neuropsychological evaluations and therapy to children, adolescents and adults.  She is a postdoctoral fellow under the supervision of Dr. Christopher Watson and Dr. Whitney Tschan.  Dr. Wood's areas of interest include: brain injury, complex medical conditions and neuropsychology.

Aaron McMahon, M.Div., M.A., LPC, earned a Master of Arts in Mental Health Counseling and a Master of Divinity from Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois. He specializes in counseling adolescents and young adults in the areas of parent-child relationships, couples and family problems, men’s issues, anxiety, depression, personality disorders and Christian spirituality. Having completed clinical training with the Lake County Addictions Treatment Program, he has extensive first-hand experience in the treatment of individuals and families dealing with substance abuse and its human impact.
